What kind of car alarm is best?

Ren H said:

Yesterday I had my my truck keyhole popped and someone tried to steal it. But instead they just took my GPS unit. I couldn't believe it. Now I'm thinking of shaving my doors and putting an alarm on. Which alarm would be best or does anyone know if a shaved door kit would be good to have, other than breaking the window can someone get it?

if you shave the door handles off, how will you get in?

One that doesn’t go off in the middle of the night for no reason.
Most people ignore them when they go off anyway.

shaving door handles will make it look nicer but not deter from theft. they’ll simply break the glass and hotwire. I actually prefer Alpine alarms. even though they’re known for car audio, they make very nice alarms as well. viper and codealarm are pretty basic and entry level. alpine uses all the good features like starter kill, remote door/window locks. also have interior and exterior sensors. interior works so that if you leave your windows down and someone reaches in trying to steal something, the alarm goes off. might wanna look into them. kind of pricey but well worth it. budget is a concern then go with a viper

very loud, has more shock value. internal battery type is good idea as well, even if it only runs for 30sec.

there are many good alarms out there today but top of the line is the viper you can set the sensitivity level or the new ones have a remote that flashes a light and sound that goes off in case you cant hear your car alarm

One that shouts very loudly ‘Go any further, scum, and I’ll save you from a visit to the police station and chop your effin’ legs off’
